Interview with Austrian deathgrind machinery Mastic Scum!!!

Hi Markus !!! How are you?
Maggo: Hello karoline ;-) I have some stress at work but i´m fine, thanx.
Karoline:
And now, I would like to ask you on some questions about your band – MASTIC SCUM.
I like your band and I like your music so much. You make a perfect music and you have „face“ and style and it is very important for me, because of some band is handy, but boring, without good show and presentation.
So, tell me something about Mastic Scum. Your band was founded in 1992, is it true? Tell me about founding members Brothers Gandlers? How has changed the composition of the band over the years?
Maggo: thanx for the great words. Yes, mastic scum was founded in 1992 by harry and man gandler. Those two are one of the hardest working musicians i `ve ever meet. They love what they do and everything comes from the heart. All the music and performance is real and thats very important for me. The gandler brothers became one of my best friends in the last two years and im very proud to play and drink with them! :-D
Well i think the compositions changed a little bit from oldschool grind into a killing deathgrindmachinery :-D the new songs are more brutal and bit more complex but also with some massive grooving parts to break your fukking neck :-P

How many records have you got?
Maggo: we´ve got 4 full lenght records and a lot of split releases ;-)
Karoline:
Where you get your inspiration? Who are composed music and who writes the lyrics?
Maggo: we get our inspiration from the daily grind ;-) there`s so much bullshit going on so you have enough inspiration to make really brutal sound and lyrics. the mastermind behind mastic scum is harry, we writes the songs and the lyrics but we try to work a bit more together at the next album to reach ones again more progression and create songs which will blast you away! ;-)

What is your favorite Mastic Scum‘ s song ???
Maggo: hmmm... i dont know exactly because there a lot of great songs i think. But maby „one-track minded“. It´s one of those song where my adrenaline level goes so fucking high that i have problems to bring it back to earth again ha ha...
Karoline:
Are you planning a next video clip?
Maggo: No, we already made a videoclip for „construcdead“ this year and now we try to move on with the songwriting for the next album and mayby we can start with it next year if harry finally finds the right guitar sound. You have to know this can takes a looooooot of time :-D
Karoline:
What bands do you like to listen?
Maggo: Boah, there a lot of great band if listen to. A lot of grind/deathgrind bands like nasum, pig destroyer, internal suffering and so on... but i also listen to old school hardcore like blood for blood, backfire, madball and finally also reaggae music ha ha ha...
Karoline:
You are a vocalist of Inzest. What about another members of MASTIC SCUM? Have they some another music projects?
Maggo: Inzest is finally split up and also my other projects, i only do mastic scum anymore. For shure maby i start a new studio project because i wrote a lot of new inzest material which isn´t released yet or we use some of the material for the new mastic scum album, we will see...
In the past man plays drums at belphegor for five years and alex also play guitar in another band whos called days of loss.

Now, tell me something about Amadeus Awards!!!? I am really curious. :-)
Ha ha... this was a really funny night. The show itself was a bit boring BUT the after show becomes absolutely crazy! There were so many people and alcohol as much you can drink for free!! And finally the party ends at a original vienna sausage stand ha ha ha... we didnt won the award but it was a hell of a party!!
Karoline:
You and guys are from the same town? If you‘ re not, is it possible to get to regular rehearsals ???
Maggo: The other guys are all live in vienna exept me, i´m from tyrol. It´s about 500km far away from vienna but i dont need rehearsals because i know the songs :-P no only joking, the other guys practice a lot... and....ähhhh.... i do not, i know the songs ha ha ha.... but i will also move to vienna. So i also have to come to the rehearsals this year... shit... ha ha ha...
Karoline:
What concerts you remember, because of some special situations and experiences?
Maggo: i think one of the best concerts till now was the gig in istanbul, there so many crazy fans and the all going cracy from the very first beginning of the show. And after the show we couldnt get off the stage as so many people pushed us back on the stage again to play one more song ha ha... it was a blast! We also meet a lot of very friendly people there and had a really great time.
Karoline:
And what about Czech Republic? Do you like Czech fans etc.. ?
Maggo: yeah, i love concerts in czech republic and also the fan, they are really crazy and they all love grindcore music ha ha... everytime when we play in czech rebuplic we have so much fun with the people and also the beer is fukking great!!! And last but not least i also like one sexy photographer :-P

I had the opportunity to meet you personally and even with another guys from Mastic Scum partly. You're nice people.
Thank you for play on our Adipocire festival in October. I hope to see you soon on the stage and under it, maybe on the bar :)
